Mar 28, 2020 In keeping with provincial recommendations, effective immediately the KGH outpatient laboratory collection centre will be reducing its hours of operation and setting specific hours for immunocompromised or “at risk” patients (e.g. the elderly, those with pre-existing respiratory conditions). The changes are as follows:
Immunocompromised/at risk patients ONLY 0700-0900 Regular patients (without symptoms) 0930-1400 Patients with symptoms 1430-1630 *Patients experiencing respiratory symptoms or fever must call ahead to book an appointment*
A patient navigator will be present to help guide patients. The number of patients in the waiting room will be limited to 10 at a time, so patients may be asked to wait inside vehicles.
As per the recent IH COVID Information Update, outpatient lab testing should be limited to tests which are urgently required for patient management. The laboratory will accept expired standing orders and faxed requisitions in order to limit patients attending in person at their doctor’s offices.
