Dr. Florin Covaser is originally from Romania, where he was born and where he studied medicine. After graduating from medical school, he trained for 6 years in Vascular Surgery, while waiting for a decision from the Canadian authorities regarding his family's and his immigration request. He came to Canada in early 2006, but not before passing the board exam required to become a specialist in Romania. After his arrival, he successfully passed all the exams required for a foreign-trained physician and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, thus becoming a family physician. He holds a Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).
Dr. Covaser helped grow this clinic since August 2010, not long after its inception. He has currently one of the biggest practices in the Okanagan. He sees patients "from cradle to grave", and also provides residential (nursing homes) care and palliative care for his patients. His extensive surgical background makes it natural to be able to offer his patients a variety of office surgical procedures and joint injections. Together with his colleagues, he provides travel medicine services. While early prenatal care is part of his practice, he does not offer late prenatal care or baby deliveries. His pregnant patients are referred to his competent colleagues in the area. Dr. Covaser has a keen interest in medical education. Most of his patients have had the chance, over the years, to be seen in collaboration with one his many trainees, usually a medical student at various stages in their education, or a resident doctor studying further to become a family physician. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Family Practice at UBC. Dr. Covaser is grateful to his patients who participate in the process of training the next generation of Canadian doctors. Dr. Covaser is married and has two sons. |
